More info on that program is listed on their website - we are not listed but the ABPA third party certification is listed. The list of testers is posted at - The full rules and regs are outlined on their rules, title 51 sec 346 part B - Īlso, the State Board of Plumbing of Louisiana (SBPLA) has a designation called the Water Supply Protection Specialist (WSPS), where this license certifies a Master Plumber to test backflow preventers (accepted by LDH) and is also sometimes required in order to install new preventers depending on the jurisdiction. The Louisiana State Department of Health and Hospitals maintains a list of certified testers for the state, our course is approved through them as equivalent in length and exams to ASSE 5110. More info on how to schedule for the ABPA exam on our Exam Prep Pageīackflow Prevention Assembly Testing is regulated by two entities in Louisiana, depending on the application. So our program would include registration with LDH on its own and then the ABPA cert could be submitted for the WSPS. If seeking the WSPS designation for your plumbing license, you can still go through our program, but you would need to take an ABPA ( American Backflow Prevention Association ) third party exam also. This does not appear to be required state wide so would depend on your area. NOTE - For some water purveyors, testing can be done by LDH testers, but new installs must be completed by a Master Plumber with the WSPS designation. It is a stand alone course with no additional 3rd party exams or fees and would be valid throughout the state for annual backflow testing but not always for initial testing, see below: Our 40-hour course is approved through the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health, Central Office of Engineering Services ( LDH-OPH-COES ) for their backflow licensing requirement.
